    After two years of coping with the restrictions of the pandemic, we are pleased to welcome you to the 2022 Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Congress which will be held on November 29 to December 2 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City under the new normal conditions.

    This year’s theme is aptly named “VISIONS” with the meeting focusing on innovations and updates that continue to reshape the landscape of Ophthalmology in the Philippines.

    The Congress will feature in-person sessions, which will be available on-demand after the end of the live sessions. The business meeting will be broadcast live on the virtual platform in real-time. Be assured that we have taken the necessary steps to provide you with a safe space to gather.

    Let us again experience the warmth and camaraderie among colleagues, and savor the excitement of meeting old and new friends in person. We look forward to seeing you in November!

Message from the President

    Greetings of good health to all! Welcome to the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO) 2022 Annual Meeting.
This year’s convention is aptly themed “Visions” for a number of reasons. It will showcase updates and innovations in the various ophthalmological subspecialties. New and novel approaches to the diagnosis and management of eye diseases will be brought to fore.

    This year’s meeting will also serve as the jumping point in unboxing the future as we slowly adjust and adapt to life under the so-called new normal. After two years of purely online gatherings, we will be holding face to face sessions at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay city from November 29 to December 2, 2022. Those who prefer to participate virtually will still be able to do so via delayed streaming of the scientific lectures.

    As we transition from a virtual to actual convention, there will undoubtedly be adjustments, glitches and modifications along the way. The PAO Executive Council and Committee on Continuing Education in Ophthalmology have been working very hard to anticipate and address such concerns. We humbly request for everyone’s cooperation and patience as together we tread unfamiliar terrain and work towards a successful and productive meeting.

    I am hopeful and excited to see you in November as we gather to learn about the latest trends in ophthalmology, rekindle old friendships with our mentors and colleagues and forge new ones with those whom we have interacted virtually the past two years. Together let us usher in the new normal and look forward to brighter days ahead.
